Here's another Notre Dame. This one is in Chartres. It's probably the more typical example of period gothic cathedrals, so a lot of historians study it.

As yo can tell, I pieced together two photographs to show the extent of the spires here. Note the rounded arches on front windows.
These flying buttresses are visible from around back.

Chartres has a great deal of its original stained glass intact.

Note how the figures sort of hang from the supporting structure. They are elongated, conforming to the architecture.


These pictures are a bit dark. You can see a little bit of the interior detail in them.

This is not part of the cathedral in Chartres, but I liked it. It's a great old door, with a frame and nothing else. There is no building behind it.
